History : The name of the town could go back to the 9th or 12th century. It is related to the forest which covered all its territory. Indeed, after clearing and cuts that were out there in the Gallo-Roman period, the sale of logs or standing trees was held there in the form of auctions. An important archaeological site was discovered in the 19th century, which reveals constructions of prehistoric and Roman times.
Monument : The Saint Eloi Church, a beautiful 16th century building, has fragments of 16th century stained glass windows and a Virgin and Child seated.
Sightseeings : Druidic sites: La Pierre Courcoulée (forest of Evreux); Stone Druids (place called Hotel Dieu) in the hamlet of La Trigale. Oak says “seven brothers” in the forests in La Trigale on the road Gaudreville River
